Step 1: Setup your line
- Go onto your line, make sure it has a set reference train
-
Check the line length, it's above the route list (see image below)
-
Now go to Line duration, change this to Custom and set it to the nearest round number (so in this case 2h 40m 0s)
-
You should also set your Extra Stop Time to "Manually Picked Stops", this allows you to set timing points where you'd like them
- Now make sure, on the last stop on the list, there's no excessive time, if there is disribute it to other timing points
- That's it for the line, now time to make a Depot Line
Step 2: Setup your Depot Line
This assumes you've already made a depot - this isn't covered in this guide
- Whilst in lines, create a new Depot Line
- Name the line, select the platform and then select alternative platforms
- Make sure you have a stop selection signal set!
Step 3: Timetables
- Open the Schedules tab and create a new schedule
- Name the schedule what you want it to be and then move to Orders
- Select Insert at the bottom and find the line you want to schedule (So in this case CON HS2 / Nottingham HS2
-
Each of these settings is important so I will explain them below:
-
Enter: This is the first stop that your services will call at when entering service, if you depot is next to a station then
you'll want to select the one closest to it else they'll ECS to the end of the line
- Timing: We hate timing, just leave this
-
Exit: This is the last stop that your services will call at when leaving service, if you depot is next to a station then you'll
want to select the one closest to it else they'll ECS back from the start of the line
- Timing Event: Set this to Depart Exactly at for non-depot lines
- On: This is the days you want this service to run, if you untick one, it wont run on that day
-
At: This is the time you want the service to start, so if you want it to reach the Enter Station at 04:45:30 then put
04:45:30 here
- Repeat: Set this to "max" for normal services
- Continue into next order: Make sure this stays ticked
-
Now you'll need to add your depot line to the schedule, this is similar to above but there's a few key differences
-
Offset:
Set this to Group 2 - i'll explain why later
-
Run Line:
Set this to the depot line you made earlier
-
Enter, Exit and Timing:
Leave these as the default First Line Stop, Same as Enter Stop and Last Line Stop
-
Timing Event:
Set this to Arrive no later than
- Than: Set this to the time the final service should enter the depot
- Repeat: Uncheck max and set this to 1
-
That should leave you with a screen looking like so
Step 4: Offsets
- Select the Offsets tab
-
Set your Group 1 offset to be the frequency of the service you'd like, for example 00:30:00 for trains every 30 minutes
- This will make each shift you make 30 minutes later than the next one, ensuring your frequency
Step 5: Shifts
-
Shifts are decided on a formula like so
(Route Length in Hours + (Route Length in Minutes / 60)) * Trains Per Hour
- Maths is scary so on the front page I made a calculator, use that it's easier
-
You can now create the amount of shifts needed by clicking the "create new shifts" button in the bottom left of the screen, create
the amount you need
-
You can now allocate trains using the Trains screen by selecting the train you want to allocate and then clicking the "Allocate to
Shift" button, this will open a menu where you can select the shift you want
